this album rocks my socks. although i enjoyed “that’s not what i heard,” movement kicked twice as much ass. more mature, more moody, more funky. Among others, “don’t make waves” is amazing.

I’m really surprised to see the other reviewer’s comments. Give it a listen, make your own decision

whether in a group of their fans at a concert or all by your lonesome, it’s perfect. i hate to dance and when i hear this band, i have to dance, i can’t stop myself.they are blues-punk-gospel and brilliant. i loved their other albums and was very excited when i heard of this one. and i was not in the least let down. beth sings so well it’s staggering, brace plays guitar like no-one else, and kathi is a genius on the drums. this album is a little, and i do mean a little, more polished than the others but still has the punk sensibility as the others. there are very few bands that have albums that can function as a whole and as separate songs, but the gossip manages it brilliantly. and at the end listen for the “hidden” track after “light light sleep.”so go buy this now. it’s worth every penny.and also look out for their live cd coming out sometime in the fall on the dimmak label. they are one of the best, if not the best, live groups i have ever seen.

This is a great album from a great band. southern rock meets upperwestcoast punk. if you liked the first album or thier EP you will probably like this one too. the best part is that this album seems to go on a little longer.

I disagree with the person who criticized this “albulm” (ha) and agree with the person who called it blues, punk, gospel. The instrumentation is not sloppy, the guitar playing and the drumming have a raw, primal sound that sends people into a frenzy both in the comfort of their homes and at the Gossips’ live shows. This record is my favorite of all of them. If you want Beth to get a backup band and sound like a pop star, forget it. Go buy a Christina Aguilera album.

“Movement” totally rocks my socks off.
I bought this CD and was blown away by its simple, relentless energy.
Then I saw them the band live a few days later,
and I can honestly say that The Gossip is for real.
They rock with the same abandon as The Yeah Yeah Yeahs,
but Beth Ditto’s soulful vocals give The Gossip’s brand of rock a slightly different flavor.
Do yourself a favor and pick up this CD.
